Opening on Thursday 18th of May, 6pm to 9pm
Exhibition from Thursday 18th of May to Saturday 10th of June 2017
Following the success of her book release «Les Françaises» (Rizzoli International Publications) in Paris two months ago, Atelier Relief is pleased to present an exhibition of the work by French photographer Sonia Sieff.
« I think of these women. Whether they are born French or French at heart, they all displayed their beauty, their strength, and their sweet madness to me. In order for them to undress for me, and bare all for you, an intimate face-to-face was key. No posing, no filters, no retouching. They wouldn‘t be the same if there were. Only bare and natural do these women reveal their universe, their secrets. These are undressed portraits of women I admire, women who could all be my sisters and friends. »
Sonia Sieff was born in Paris to Barbara Rix and Jeanloup Sieff, both photographers. The family apartment, situated in the 17th arrondissement, was home to her parent‘s studio. Growing up, photography held few secrets from her and through different experiences she sought out her own path. She began as a set photographer when she was 20, moving on to portraits and then to fashion. Working with magazines such as Vanatiy Fair, Telegraph and Vogue, she also produced movies. Les Françaises is her first book and was published by the prestigious Rizzoli International Publications.
